Continue reading “Cruickshank Sanctuary Trip Report – 12/26/20”We had a great time at Viera Wetlands and saw quite a few interesting birds as well as a lot of gators and a marsh rabbit.
Wayne Archard led one group and Bert Alm led the other group. We saw the following birds (a W after the bird means only Wayne’s group saw the bird, a B means only Bert’s group saw the bird. No indication then both groups saw the bird). We saw a total of 47 Species.

On Saturday, November 21, 2020, twelve (12) birders found their way to the Orlando Wetlands even though some road repairs were being made nearby which prevented all to attend. Trip leaders Mark Wallace and Wayne Archard led the group. It was an overcast day and some experienced rain and rainbows on their way there. The skies threatened for the duration of the trip, but we were treated to a dry event. According to my tracker, we walked about 2.6 miles around the wetlands. The construction of the Visitor’s Center is underway.

We had 10 birders brave the cool, windy morning at this new site for SCAS. It was a wonderful hike (4.3 miles) that included 30 species of birds and a fast moving fox squirrel. Hopefully some of the photos will get posted.
