eBird Fall Big Day Field Trip and Social

Join Space Coast Audubon in support of Cornell’s eBird October Day. Birders all over the world will be on field trips on October 6, 2018 recording their findings and submitting the data to Cornell’s eBird data base.
We are please to announce that David Simpson will be leading our group on this filed trip. David has selected 2 locations: Malabar Scrub and Turkey Creek Sanctuary. After Turkey Creek, we are all going to the Broken Barrel. Space Coast Audubon is offering complementary wings and drinks for members (non member charge is $5)
Below are the details
— 7:30 AM Meet at Malabar Scrub Sanctuary (an EEL property), 1501 Malabar Woods Blvd, Malabar FL 32950. Parking lot is just past the Fire Station. Restrooms are located at the end of the parking lot. Paved walking path with access for those with limited mobility. Here we will be looking for Florida Scrub Jays as well as other birds that live in the scrub.
— 8:30 AM Travel to Turkey Creek Sanctuary (1518 Port Malabar Blvd NE, Palm Bay, FL 32905) to observe and id birds and plants in the 130 acre sanctuary with boardwalk.
— 11:15 AM Travel to Broken Barrel Tavern, 4700 Babcock St NE, Palm Bay, FL 32905. Located in the plaza on the southwest corner of Babcock and Palm Bay Road behind Chili’s. We have the back party room reserved.
— 1130 AM – 1:30 PM The Chapter will provide wings and pitchers of iced tea and water. All other food, specialty beverages and alcoholic drinks (including beer) must be purchased separately and paid for directly by the participant. We kindly request a contribution to tip the wait staff. David will give us a short overview of the Cornell Ornithology Lab and eBird updates to enjoy along with some birder chat and updates on the upcoming Space Coast Audubon Society field trips and local birding events.
Come join in on great birding and learn about the wonderful work Cornell Ornithology Lab is doing; and last but not least, a fun social time with birders from our local area.
