Green Cay and Wakodahatchee Wetlands Field Trip

March 24, 2018 @ 2:00 am - 2:00 pm

Free

Space Coast Audubon President, Jeff Lamothe, is leading a field trip to the Palm Beach Wetlands of Wakodahatchee Wetlands and Green Cay Nature Center in Delray Beach/Boynton Beach.  These boardwalk wetlands are a Florida treasurer that  allows for close viewing of a variety of  wildlife.  Wakodahatachee is renown for close viewing of nesting birds often only a couple yards away.  Green Cay offers  good chances of seeing bitterns, Soras, song birds, warblers and waterfowl.  The trip consists of going to both locations and walking along will maintained boardwalks.  We will be walking slow with ample opportunity to sit along the boardwalks.  Both sites have clean restrooms on location.  I would suggest bringing lunch, drinks, snacks, sunscreen and bug spray (optional). Wear appropriate clothes based on the weather and wear comfortable footwear.  Restaurants are only a short drive away

We meet at Sam’s Club (see address above) at 9:00AM and carpool to Green Cay to meetup up with the Day Trip group around 11:30AM. After Green Cay we go to a local hotel for the evening and visit Wakodahatchee at 8:00AM on Sunday.  Plan to leave Wakodahatchee around noon to 1:00PM for a 3:00PM return in the Melbourne area.  Book your lodging for Saturday night in the Boynton Beach/Del Ray Beach area.  Hotel costs are around $130-$180 per night.
