Our speaker this month is Tom Seiler talking about Condors
In the early 80s it was determined that the total worldwide
population of California Condors stood at 22. They were on course to
be totally extinct within a few years. A group of determined people
decided to save the species against overwhelming odds and tough
political opposition to the plan. Today there are almost 450 Condors
as the program has been an amazing success.
Tom Seiler is a retired electrician who spent ten years living in an RV
visiting the National Parks of America. He spent almost one month per
year living at the Grand Canyon photographing the California Condors.
His photos are being used by the park service for programs, posters
and advertisements. He retired from his journey in 2013 when his RV died
in central Florida and I took it as a sign from above to stay here.
